To make hair soft and shiny:
2 to 6 tbsp. mayonnaise (depending on hair length)
Massage mayonnaise (any type) into dry hair. Cover hair with plastic wrap, bag, or cap. Keep on 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse and rinse shampoo thoroughly.
HERBAL CONDITIONER FOR DARK HAIR
To revitalize dark hair:
2 tbsp. rosemary
1 cup whole milk
Steep rosemary in milk for 3 hours or overnight. (Refrigerate if keeping overnight.) Strain liquid to remove the rosemary, and mix egg and honey into milk. Rub liquid into hair and cover with plastic wrap. Leave on 30 minutes, then shampoo.
To control dandruff:
2 tbsp. fennel
1 1/2 cups boiling
2 tbsp. nettles
Steep herbs in water for 20 minutes. Strain liquid to remove herbs. Pour onto hair and work into the scalp. Keep on 15 minutes and rinse. (For long hair, double recipe ingredients.)
FORMULA FOR DAMAGED HAIR
To treat dry, over-processed, or sun-damaged hair:
3 tbsp, cooking oil (olive, canola, sunflower)
Measure oil into a cup. Apply to hair and massage in for 3 minutes. Put plastic wrap around the hair, and cover with a towel that’s been soaked in hot water and wrung out (be careful not to bum hands). Leave on 20 minutes, then rinse and shampoo. Be sure to remove all the oil; if you use olive oil, you may need to shampoo twice.
